First month of the year we all take a moment off from our every day life and look back on the success and failures over last year and formulate a new action plan for the next 365 days. And for many of us one of the the resolutions is eating healthy and getting into the best shape of our lives. And I am one of them.
After my twin girls turned 6 months old and my scale got stuck on 193 pounds, I realized that I needed to take my health and weight loss plan to the next level. After endless research I ended up back at square one and the realization that- there is no miracle to the weight loss. As much as I use to hate my mom telling me to eat less and move more and if I haven’t reached my goal it was because I didn’t want it bad enough – she was always right. So I want to share with you my findings and take you on the journey of my body battles.
Every time we make change or try something new we want to see the results right away. So this month I will talk about tips to jump start your journey and lose 5 to 10 pounds in first month.
1. Water. Water. Water. Our body can function much longer without food then without water. Water is the most important component of our body and also of our nutrition. We should drink from 3, 16 oz bottles up to 1 gallon a day. It depends on how active you are and the conditions of your environment. So all my Florida humid weather and Colorado high altitude friends, you know you are in the one gallon zone. It is also important when you drink it. You need to start your day with a glass of cold water. This wakes up your digestive system what makes it easier to digest your meals throughout the day. Its important not to drink excessive amount of water during or right before your meal, this may give you the full feeling and trick you to eat less, but it also makes it harder to digest what you just ate.
2. Portion control. There is no need to do overnight clearance in your fridge. Just everything in moderation. And divide your daily food intake into 4-6 meal times. Do not starve your body for long hours as it will switch into “saving mode” and begins to store fats for the next potential long period of starvation.
3. Balance. There is no need to go strict fish and veggie diet overnight. Its important to give your body the fuel its needs to get through the day at work or handling your kids.
> > 4. The way the foods where created. Foods where never meant to be processed and filled with chemicals. If we eat the foods as close as possible to the way God created them we are getting the most nutrition’s out of it. It is a challenge in todays world, but your body will thank you for your efforts.
5. Step by step. If your not so found of sweaty work outs, there are still many ways for you to step up your physical activity. But let me say, there is nothing better then breaking a sweat and the way you feel after the work out. Instead of the elevators, use stairs. Dont wait 5 min in car to park as close to the building as possible, just use the walk as a bonus activity.
So how have this 5 little changes affected my body in the first 30 days. I am down to 186 ponds and ready to challenge myself to take my body battle to the work out field.
